please do not fall for staff claiming trans womens faces being labeled mature is a “bug” i have had nudes and cis women in lingerie blazed to me CONSTANTLY with zero content labels or warnings, clearly any labels being added to posts are done by people. that and any text posts criticizing staffs rampant terf and nazi problem being labeled mature as well. it is very blatant obvious transmisogyny on staffs end and theyre giving up a flimsy excuse to try and avoid liability on the legal end of things

play-now-my-lord:

i go to the job interview. there is a square table set out with a dish of assorted unwrapped candies, and an HR manager sitting on one chair facing the door. if i were a cis woman i would sit across from him, whereas if i was a cis man i would sit next to him. in either case i would take one piece of candy and slip it into my pocket for later. the HR manager rises to shake my hand. there are a million strategies to make a good impression on an interviewer with the correct handshake, but this isn’t my first rodeo.

ignoring his hand, i plunge my hand into the bowl of candy and deftly grab a handful, then begin feeding the HR manager. initially he’s agitated by my approach but i calm him down with my gentle demeanor. pretty soon he’s eating candy straight out of my hand. good sign. when he sits down i brush off his lap with a handkerchief (shows respect for his clothes by not using a bare hand, shows concern for cleanliness and thorough nature to clean off his lap).

i sit directly on his lap, and he winces in pain from my weight. “easy there, big fella. i’m not gonna hurt you.” i pat him on the head and reach into my pocket. i pull out a stick of wintergreen gum. the scent and flavor of the wintergreen calm his wild spirit and give me free rein to reach into the pocket of his trousers. “you won’t be needing this anymore,” i say, placing his wallet just beyond his arm’s reach on the table. “that life is behind you.”

carefully, i take his shoes. this is the hard part - even taking loafers off of an HR manager can startle them, make them bolt. but he trusts me. i put his shoes on my feet. they fit perfectly. i’m now ready to take his jacket and work badge and release him into the wild. he’ll be disoriented at first, but within a few months, he’ll rehabituate to the natural environment, maybe even find a mate and start a family. i’ll be a valued employee at my new job by then.

don’t worry about his clothes and wallet. he’ll find new ones, they always do. nature provides for all creatures.

This is true I think, everyone just has very normal and even-minded thoughts and opinions about transfeminine sexuality

No honestly I think it’s REALLY important that people see this. Literally the exact same post, sans trans people, and it didn’t get flagged.

I got a marketing email from hobbycraft to say that they’re now selling plush pumpkins ahead of halloween

so of course I went to the website, which led me to this delightful photo series showing the different sizes available:

Three photos of the same black man, holding a series of plush pumpkins. The first pumpkin (labelled small) fits within the palm of his hand, and he is looking down delighted by the tiny pumpkin. The second pumpkin (labelled medium) is still hand sized, and he is looking at the camera with a smile. The third pumpkin (labelled large) is balanced on his hand to the side, and he is looking at it in amusementALT
Two more photos of the same man holding larger plush pumpkins. The first (labelled XL) is cradled in both hands in front of his chest, and he is looking down at the pumpkin. The second (labelled XXL) covers about half his chest, and is being held out in front of him with a happy/excited look on his faceALT

I love and support this man and his pumpkin collection

maybe it is possible for me to return to a better time. clean my room up, one step at a time. laminate some paper, tape them to the wall as sort-of-posters so it doesn’t feel like i’m trapped in four white walls. maybe then i’ll feel better, i’ll be able to focus on what matters.

Barnes and Noble booksellers are working on forming a union as well!

https://www.reddit.com/r/union/comments/rwczci/barnes_noble_workers_want_union/

Their flagship store and New York has unionized along with 3-4 other stores! This is happening! People are tired of being seen as dollar signs and being made to work just to get to work more, to survive instead of thrive. Keep it UP.

daily reminder that ‘porn addiction’ is a myth perpetuated by far right evangelical groups.

As long as your porn consumption is not interfering with your work or social life, it’s considered normal.

Actual psychology research shows that people who identify as 'porn addicts’ don’t actually consume more porn than average. What do they have in common? They were raised to view sex as shameful.

https://psycnet.apa.org/record/2020-04888-001

The only missing link in this article is that it’s based on self-reporting. How is self-reporting linked to diagnosis? Are doctors diagnosing patients based on self-reporting alone? How hard is it to ask how porn is ruining someone’s life?

Hey Im a psychology major, “porn addiction” is actually not a diagnosis that doctors give. It’s not included in the DSM-5 at all!

This is largely because peer reviewed science on the subject doesn’t support that it’s a real mental illness on its own. Sadly all the top google results though, are evangelical organizations posing as “scientific” to spread the idea that porn addiction is a real problem… they’re just anti-sex. Which is why its so important to combat their VERY well funded misinformation campaigns.

OP is getting so muck hate for this post that in no way says the children should be given access to porn by people that keep accusing them of wanting to give children access to porn

image

Despite hanging out with fellow perverts every day, I have only met one single “porn addict” in my entire life.

Said person was simply depressed and clinging to anything that could make them feel good. If not masturbation, it would have been anything else that could accomplish that.

Yep! Clinincally, compulsive porn consumption IS a thing and its generally considered a symptom of depression. (though it can happen with other mental illness too, like OCD)

Treatment focuses on relieving said depression, because experience has shown that calling depressed people “porn addicts” and putting them into anti porn treatment programs christian conversion therapies makes both problems MUCH WORSE

image

“porn addiction” isnt a diagnosis or a symptom recognized by doctors.

“compulsive porn consumption” is not a diagnosis, but it is a symptom!

hope that makes sense

Masturbation releases dopamine which can push back against the brain chemistry of depression. Not as well as actual medication, but sometimes you have to make do with the tools you have available.

Definitely true! If i had to guess, I’d say that most depressed people who masturbate for relief are still not doing so in a maladaptive way.

Behavior is only considered compulsive when the compulsion overrides or prevents daily life. Such as, regularly turning down opportunities to connect with friends and family in favor of masturbation…as well as missing school or work.

As you can imagine this symptom isn’t actually all that common. Definitely not as common as “porn addict” advocates would have people believe.

Masturbation in moderation can actually be a really healthy outlet for most people, especially when faced with alternatives such as self harm or substance abuse.

image

Theres honestly a lot of bad propaganda about abuse in the porn industry too. Ever since covid, most porn stars switched to direct to consumer platforms like fansly or onlyfans. That means most porn is now directed and controlled directly by the women and queer people who perform in it.

Even with studios? I’ve worked with studios and have always been treated with professionalism, this is the most common experience my peers report.

But “sex worker has fun on set with respectful studio” doesn’t make money as a documentary…so people who don’t work in the industry only hear the very worst. Abuse happens in every industry, the spotlight it gets in sex work is….disproportionate. In my opinion, due to people’s distain for the existence of sex workers and porn in general.

Criticism of abusive people and studios in this industry IS important…so why do critics never name specific problem studios? They want porn banned, not made safer.

A series of tweets by Twitter user @Bitterstaff (John Bickerstaff) from May 19, 2023. The first tweet links a Deadline.com article with the headline "Disney to remove dozens of series from Disney+ and Hulu" while Bickerstaff comments, "They gave us six months. Not even. This business has become absolutely cruel." His next tweet says, "Before you say tax write-off: these shows have already been released and so can't be a tax write-off. And in the case of Willow, they own the property outright. The only conclusion is that this is to get out of paying residuals. During a strike." His third tweet says, "And look, eternal streaming libraries are not sustainable. We're all going to have to adjust to that at some point. But to spend [REDACTED] on a show and then disappear it six months later is just bad business."ALT

on the announcement that Disney+ is removing a plethora of shows and films from its service, please read these tweets from Willow writer John Bickerstaff. this is not a tax writeoff like Batgirl, because these projects have already been released. this is a move designed to cut off financial support in the form of residuals, and break the spirit of the strike. here is the deadline article that lists the films/shows that will be removed.

as always, donate to the entertainment community fund, vocally support the WGA online and irl, or join a picket in a major US city if you can. let them know they can’t keep getting away with things like this.

CGI animators should unionize next. normally, their jobs would be too precarious to strike, since studios would replace them without a second thought, but if it’s part of this larger general film strike, they might finally have meaningful power to better their working conditions

if CGI animators unionized, it would kill the MCU. straight up. the the entire business model is built on exploiting CGI animators

Tweet from The Animation Guild @animation guild) that says: "We need your help! #Disney refuses to recognize #animation production workers in their effort to #unionize. Show your support and sign the petition at https://iatse.net/online-action/disney-production/ "ALT

don’t forget during the WGA strike that animation is not covered under the WGA deals and as a result animation has gotten the shortest possible end of the stick in under-staffing, under-paying, and generally turning the field into gig employment.

please sign the petition here for Disney to recognize animation production workers as a union and reblog this post!
